Formspring Friday

Wow, there are a lot of people who really don’t bother to read guidelines, huh? :) Haha! Guys, planner giveaway contest rules state that you have to have been following my Tumblr before I posted the announcement about the contest, so if you followed after that post was made, you aren’t eligible. And if you’re not following me at all, you aren’t eligible, either. I already mentioned the reason behind that guideline previously. :)

Hi! I deleted Imaginarium because I didn’t use it much and I didn’t think I’d ever feel totally comfortable with sharing my personal essays with the world. At least not in that fashion. :) I have no other blogs aside from this one and the ones linked on my sidebar. :) I’ve long since deleted all my old blogs on LiveJournal; even my Multiply and all the photos that were on it are completely gone.

Formspring Not-Friday

Just catching up with everything that was sent in while I was in Subic for the 21st Philippine Advertising Congress. Not in the mood for pictures, really — too stressed. Can anyone refer me to a psychologist who’d be willing to be interviewed? Haha.

What do you feel about girls who smoke? Honestly?

Honestly? I don’t care. People are free to do whatever they want to their lungs as long as they’re aware of the repercussions of their choices, and as long as they’re not blowing their secondhand smoke into my asthmatic face. If they’re not pressuring anyone else to make the same choices as they are, it’s not a problem. I don’t judge people based on things like that — whether they smoke, whether they drink (to a certain extent, because sometimes drinking too much makes you do stupid things that hurt other people) — those things aren’t the things that make them who they are, and they don’t determine whether or not someone is a bad person.

Hi, I’m Nami! Do you know anything about Lomo and Holga cams? I cant seem to decide which one to get, I’m torn between Holga 120CFN and Lomo Diana F+. Which one do you prefer? Thank you so much! :)

Hi, Nami! As a matter of fact, I do know those two cameras quite well. I don’t own both of them, but I own variants. I have a Holga 120GN (and an external Holgon Strobe Flash) and a Diana+. I really don’t suggest getting the Holga that has a built-in flash because the built-in flash is never as strong as an external one. It’s always a better idea to get a standard Holga like the Holga 120N and then get an external Colorsplash Flash with it. (And you can use that flash with other cameras too!)

Between the Holga and the Diana+, I think the Holga is built more sturdily, but the Diana+ is more forgiving in low-lighting conditions. The Diana’s biggest aperture is wider than the Holga’s, so it lets more light in and allows you to expose your film with a quicker shutter speed — that minimizes blurring, if you’ve got a steady-enough hand.

But in spite of that, I much prefer the solid feel of the Holga because the Diana is just too flimsy for me. It might take a little more practice and getting used to, but once you do, you’ll love it. :)

The Diana F+ has this book that comes with it that’s got a short story I wrote in early 2007, though. But it was a crappy short story that I wrote in like 20 minutes anyway, so it’s not worth it. HAHAHAHAHA. (If you do get the Diana F+, though, can I have the book? LOL.)

Where do you get your applications? Is it possible to dload and get them for free on another site other than iTunes store? I don’t have a credit card, how can I get them?:( What do you use? Thanks!

Hey there! I actually do get my applications from the iTunes store — all of them are legitimately purchased. Some of my friends think I’m really stupid for spending money on them (well, technically I haven’t since the $50 worth of iTunes gift cards I spent on apps was a gift from my best friend), but I’m weird like that. As much as possible I don’t like to pirate. I’m pretty sure you can get all that and more at Greenhills, or if you learn to jailbreak your iPhone, but I can’t help you there, sorry.

Like I mentioned, I use iTunes gift cards because I don’t feel comfortable using my credit card. I have a US-based iTunes Store account, so I can use US gift cards to pay for apps, music, TV shows, and movies. :)

Formspring Friday

Ah, the last bunch for this week. :)

What are your favorite and fondest memories of your paternal grandma?

See-see (which was what we all called my grandmother) died when I was six and a half, so I don’t really have that many clear memories anymore. We all call her See-see because when I was a baby, we were living with her and Grandpa in the compound, and every morning before she’d leave for work, she’d say “See you later!” to me. She says my first words were “see-see,” so she claimed it as her name. :)

All the other grandkids after me called her that. She was a sweet woman. She used to try to teach me Chinese (probably Fookien) through a song or a game that we’d play on the floor of the walk-in closet in her bathroom. She let me skip kindergarten for two whole weeks once when Mom was in the States and I was staying with her.

She doted on all of us, but I was the first grandchild, and at the time, the only granddaughter. I was always her favorite. I hope wherever she is, she is proud of me.

Thank you for this question. :) I loved thinking about her.
