Formspring Friday
Up to 2:30 a.m. Under the cut: a little Rakenrol, I become Dr. Love, juicy Apple goodness, and it’s my love story, baby, just say yes.
I’m planning to buy my very first lomo cam and I can’t particularly decide which one to pick. It’s a toss up between a Vivitar and a Holga 120. Which one of these would you suggest I buy?
Hey! First off, I have to tell you that I’ve never shot with a Vivitar, so while I know what it can do, I can’t give you information based on experience. I own a Holga 120GN. It was my very first toy camera and I love it to death, but the thing is, medium format film is expensive and hard to come by. So as much as I like the camera, if you want to be practical, the Vivitar is the better choice. But then if you think you’ve got the makings of a lomo purist, I would go with the Holga. (You can always buy the 135 Holga instead of the 120 or a 135 film adapter anyway, if you want to shoot on more standard film.) I never really understood why the Vivitar UWS got lumped in with other legitimate toy cameras, so if anyone would like to explain that to me, my e-mail is on the side. (This Formspring has a max character count of 200.) Personally, I think the Holga is a more truly lomo experience.
Hi Reggie! I really love your “Use Somebody” cover. If you don’t mind, can I have a copy, pretty please? =D
Hey! Thank you so much! I think it’s still available here, but I’m not sure which version that one is, because I tweaked it a few times before the final one that’s still on Tumblr now. :) It probably isn’t too different, though! :)
Hi Reggie. It’s the exSTARlet. :) I’ve been out of the loop about Pinoy indie bands for so long, especially when I moved abroad. Can you recommend good Pinoy bands with good melody & instrumentation?
Hey there! How out of the loop is “out of the loop”? Like, a year, two years, a decade? Because it’s a little hard to gauge who to recommend when I can’t be sure who the last indie band you heard of was. Haha!
Anyway, I can’t really tell the difference between which local bands are indie or mainstream now, but the good ones that I really like that fit in with your instrumentation + melody request (who’ve got albums or EPs that you can actually purchase) are Up dharma Down (they won Artist and Album of the Year at the recent NU107 Rock Awards for their album Bipolar, which is incredible, and their debut Fragmented was fantastic, too), Taken By Cars, Ciudad (their latest album Bring Your Friends is heartbreak central), and Urbandub (they’re heavier than the other three though). :) You can probably check out Rakenrol for some sample tracks, we uploaded a few there. Who knows, you might find other bands you like that I wasn’t able to mention here. :)
Hi Regina. Im your biggest FAN here in TUMBLR. I’m Gina ^♥^ ILY! Sana we are close. :) Take Care always!
Hi, Gina! Thank you so much. :) You take care, too! ♥
I actually had a note in my iPhone’s Notes section with things to tell you/ask you every Friday. Hahahaha. First of all: you going to Chicosci’s Fly Black Hearts! launch? =D —Ria
Wow! Ano ba! Haha! Jason and I would have gone, but he’s sick, so I will most likely not be there. :( I’m sure it’ll be fun, though! Those guys never fail to put on a great show.
How do you get over a bad break-up? More importantly, do you have any advice for single girls out there who are still…well, lonely and/or alone? :)
I’ve only ever had one break-up and it was a bad one, but I think my circumstances were a little too different for me to be giving advice based on that. (And I’m never going to talk about it here. Haha!) I would suggest finding something to channel your energy into, something productive that you can love, like writing, or art; anything with definite output. Some people will tell you to go out and hang out with friends, and while that is fun, let me tell you, you get even lonelier when you get home after a great night out and you’re alone again.
I always tell people that romance is not the be-all end-all of the universe. Just because you don’t have a significant other doesn’t mean that you’re alone; you just need to appreciate your friends more and recognize the love that you do have, even if it’s just familial or platonic. :) It’s a waste of time to mope about something that isn’t there. Love yourself first. Romance will happen in its own time, sometimes when you least expect it. :)
So I read in one of your previous FF posts that you play Lemonade Tycoon on your iPhone :D I was wondering what your recipe is, and if you change it according to the weather or leave whatever works.
My recipe is 6 lemons, 3 sugar, and 3 ice. I put in one less ice on cold days, but other than that, I don’t change my recipe. 5 lemons works pretty much just as well, too. :)
Hello! Where do you get your hair done?
Hi! I get my hair done at Rêver in the Pacific Star building in Makati. :) My stylist’s name is Patty, and she’s been doing my hair since my grade school graduation. Ten years! They’re a bit pricier than places like Bench Fix (my cut usually costs between 600 and 700), but I’ve got really thin and fine hair, and she’s always done wonders with it. :)
Do you have any other pets in the house aside from Pony the bunny? Have you ever considered getting him a female companion so you can have more snugglebunnies around the house? :)
Nope! It’s just Pony and me. :) My youngest brother has a little tank of sea monkeys, though. :) I have considered that many, many times! But the few times I tried to introduce him to a lady-friend, he just fought the girls, kicked up a fuss, and ignored me because he was upset, so I really think I’m all the companionship he wants. :) Well, me and his bear, at least.
Do ur parents still give u money allowance? I remember you mentioned bfore that you still don’t have work & that your job today is not permanent. Thanks for answering ha & i love u and ur blog! <3
Yes, they do, but they’re completely cutting me off in January. :) Most of what I spend is money I’ve earned through my various writing gigs, though. Thanks! :)
How do I purchase from apple store online?:) I’m just so nervous bec it is actually my first time to buy online. It’s cheaper kasi and may free engraving! Can u give an advice? Thanks, ur so cute!:)))
Hi! I’ve never actually bought anything from the Apple Online Store (just the iTunes Store, and with gift cards, not my credit card), so I can’t help you there. But I know for a fact that Apple takes you through the whole process step by step. :) Is it really cheaper? Have you factored in shipping costs and taxes (if you’re buying from the US Apple Store)? Anyway, I’m pretty sure Apple’s website is secure so there shouldn’t be any problem with your purchase. :) Good luck!
can you share something about how you and your boyfriend met and fell in love? Or maybe a trivia or anything that you want to share nalang :) Your blog readers would love to be kilig too! <3
Haha! I’m not sure how open to that the Boyfriend would be, actually, but what the hell, I already wrote about it here years ago (on what used to be my lomo+writing LJ), anyway. :) But Jason, if you prefer that I not link that old entry up, I can always take it back down. Your call. :)
Hello Ms. Regina! You are so kind from what I can see and read from your tumblog. Any way, I think you have an idea of what Quezon City Youth Achiever Award and State of the Children’s Address is? :)
Hey, thanks! :) I’m really sorry, but I don’t know anything about Quezon City, and I can’t help you there. :(
You seem to be a very nice and friendly person :) just want to ask, do you party and drink a lot? Or you stay at home most of the time? I myself is having a hard time quitting my bad drinking habits!
Haha! “A lot” is a relative term. Do I party a lot? Compared to a lot of people I know, definitely not. Compared to how frequently I used to party when I was in college, definitely not. (And if you compared my partying in college to the way other people partied then and now, I DEFINITELY did not party a lot.) Partying is a pretty relative term, too! Partying for me is going to gigs and having a few beers, whereas some people consider clubbing to be partying. :) I still drink every now and then and I’ve still got my high tolerance, but I’ve been boring lately. :) If you need motivation to stop drinking, just think of the weight loss! HAHA!
hi reg! viva to u! =) i love reading blogs where i learn and hear new words. i regularly read yours, chuvaness’s, and pia m.’s. most of the time, i find myself lost for words. any tips?? T.I.A! —K.
Hi! I really don’t know what to tell you. Reading the dictionary is useless because you don’t see the words used in context anyway. The only thing I can suggest is to read, read, read. Books, magazines, reputable websites, things that interest you. The best way to develop a good vocabulary is to develop a love for reading. :)
